Job Title:                    Community Investment Advisor/Labor Liaison

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Community Investment Advisor/Labor Liaison works under the direction of the Corporate Relations Director, but will provide regular reports on work activities to the Utah AFL-CIO President.  Working in partnership with other Community Investment Advisors, effectively solicits individual and corporate investments for United Way of Salt Lake from union employees through year-round management of workplace giving account portfolios that have union representation among their work forces.  Responsibilities include forecasting revenue projections, overseeing donor stewardship, customer relationship management, and soliciting new corporate and organizational partnerships from those organizations which have union employees.  Interfaces with the labor community within United Way of Salt Lake’s service area to engage their support and encourages both financial and volunteer participation with United Way.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Articulates the mission and vision of United Way of Salt Lake to union employees within companies and organizations, as well as to labor community audiences through group presentations and individual meetings.  

2. Responds to questions and concerns of union donors and works to resolve issues in a timely manner.

3. In partnership with other Community Investment Advisors, manages a portfolio of existing workplace accounts that have union representation on a year-round basis and works specifically with labor employees within those organizations.

4. Provides training and support to Employee Campaign Managers (ECMs) on how to implement a successful employee workplace giving campaign with union employees. Communicates regularly with ECMs and union representatives from companies and organizations regarding advocacy and volunteer opportunities available through United Way of Salt Lake.

5. Builds relationships and develops individual strategies within the union leadership and employees of account portfolio to maximize revenue, increase donor loyalty, and meet community impact objectives.

6. Works effectively with affinity group leaders to maximize leadership giving among the labor community.

7. Forecasts revenue projections and monitors progress of the labor participation among accounts throughout the workplace campaign. Collects data on the campaign, evaluates results, and proposes recommendations. Reports results and efficiently reconciles projections and actual pledges processed.

8. Develops new partnerships among companies and organizations that have labor representation among their work force but which do not currently support United Way of Salt Lake or that only support UWSL at a minimal level.

9. Recruit, train and involve union volunteers in United Way of Salt Lake’s Community Engagement efforts. 

10. Visit local unions and attend their membership meetings.

11. Attend appropriate AFL-CIO meetings.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

·        Bachelors degree, or equivalent experience, and one to two years fund raising or sales experience

·        Strong presentation and interpersonal skills

·        Professional appearance
